Dave Stewart & Friends: “American Prayer”
Stevens Convicted
Posted on | October 27, 2008
It’s a little early for Halloween candy, but this sure is sweet. Sen. Ted Stevens (R–AK) was just found guilty in Washington federal court on all counts of lying to investigators:
WASHINGTON – Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens has been convicted of lying about free home renovations and other gifts he received from a wealthy oil contractor.
The Senate’s longest-serving Republican, Stevens was found guilty on all seven counts of making false statements on Senate financial documents.
The verdict throws the upcoming election into disarray. Stevens is fighting off a challenge from Democrat Mark Begich and must now either drop out or continue campaigning as a convicted felon.
The trial hinged on the testimony of Stevens’ longtime friend, who testified that his employees dramatically remodeled the senator’s home.
Stevens faces up to five years in prison on each count but, under federal sentencing guidelines, will likely receive much less prison time, if any.
Just in time for him to lose the election next week. There is a God, and she has a sense of humor.

Good Thing We Didn’t Step In It

Oh, look; it’s one of them. Gov. Sarah Palin’s mask keeps slipping, this time in an NBC interview in which she gives the nod-and-wink to America’s homegrown terrorists:
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has accused Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists,” has refused to call people who bomb abortion clinics by the same name.
When asked Thursday night by NBC television presenter Brian Williams whether an abortion clinic bomber was a terrorist, Palin heaved a sigh and, at first, circumvented the question.
“There’s no question that Bill Ayers by his own admittance was one who sought to destroy our US Capitol and our Pentagon. That is a domestic terrorist,” Palin said, referring to a 1960s leftist who founded a radical violent gang dubbed the “Weathermen” — and who years later supported Obama’s first run for public office in the state of Illinois.
“Now, others who would want to engage in harming innocent Americans or facilities that it would be unacceptable to… I don’t know if you’re gonna use the word ‘terrorist’ there,” the ardently pro-life running mate of John McCain said.
I can’t imagine she’s still trying to win this thing, thank goodness. It seems she’s just marking time until she goes home to Alaska in defeat, there possibly to face recall or impeachment as her various failings catch up with her.
