[20:55] <DM> Oh, I’m assuming several bales of hay have been stowed for Sloth.
[20:55] <Gina> (Do we have to take a ship? I’m taking my horse.)
[20:55] <Gina> (I can’t go to a war without my horse.)
[20:55] <Hyacinth> [Heh]
[20:56] <DM> The ship’s hold is large enough to accommodate horses (and more hay).
[20:57] <Faust> (Faust has his herbs and other provisions.)
[20:57] <DM> How many vials of holy water you want, Phantom?
[20:57] <Phantom> 3
[20:57] * Hyacinth will make sure she’s stocked up on necessaries and arrows, and some spices to help the ship’s food a little.
[20:57] <DM> OK.
[20:59] <Faust> Faust is going to bring three ducks and some cured goat meat with him… in his travels he has picked up some cooking skills from far-off lands (that means exotic:).
[21:00] <DM> The ducks are alive?
[21:00] <Phantom> (Oh, bolts-Phantom I think needs bolts as I bet Kys does.)
[21:00] <Faust> (Of course; nothing better then fresh food!)
[21:00] * Magnifico will help with loading Alanna’s baggage, and anyone else’s but Faust’s, and will carry only his instruments.
[21:00] <DM> Poor ducks! 
[21:01] <DM> How many bolts you want to carry on your person, Phantom? 20?
[21:01] <Phantom> (Yes, please!)
[21:03] <Faust> “Oh, by the way, Jester…”
[21:03] * Magnifico snaps a salute to Faust.
[21:03] <Magnifico> “Here, your Doctorship.”
[21:03] <Hyacinth> [LOL]
[21:03] * Hyacinth giggles, and then looks thoughtful for a brief moment.
[21:04] <Faust> “I had occasion to see Lord Godfrey outside of Suzail. A very interesting man is he. If I am correct, you have made his acquaintance before?”
[21:05] * Faust raises an eyebrow at the *jester*.
[21:05] * Magnifico tugs at his collar nervously.
[21:05] <Magnifico> “I was bound to meet him, one might say…and gagged, more precisely.”
[21:06] * Magnifico gives himself a rim shot on his tabor, and bows.
[21:06] * Faust quickly grabs up all the bags in his meaty arms, leaving Magnifico behind as he walks up the gangplank.
[21:07] <DM> The ship is rather a magnificent sight–probably one of the largest galleons you’ve ever seen–flying the flag of the Purple Dragon.
[21:07] <DM> (Cormyr’s national flag.)
[21:07] <Faust> (Had to be, to hold two horses, all of us and Sloth.)
[21:08] * Hyacinth walks up to Magnifico, glancing at him while she takes in the sight of the galleon.
[21:07] <Hyacinth> “Oh, now, good fool, you cannot leave us all hanging after hooking us so.”
[21:08] * Phantom still looks around nervously, despite the size of the ship.
[21:08] <Magnifico> “Madam, I feared that I was the one to be hung.”
[21:08] <DM> The captain, a bearded human man in his early fifties, his uniform spotless and perfectly ironed, welcomes you all aboard.
[21:09] <Magnifico> I can only assume that he did not enjoy my performance.
[21:09] * Hyacinth cocks an eyebrow at Magnifico. “You will have to tell me more.”
[21:08] <Alanna> “I hate ships. I hate water. We’re all going to die, you know.”
[21:09] <Hyacinth> “Yes, but you see, it will take a spectacular foe to do the deed.”
[21:09] <Faust> “Eventually, but today doesn’t seem to be my chosen time, so maybe you should stand by my side.”
[21:10] * Faust gives his arm to Alanna.
[21:11] * Alanna smiles at Faust, weakly.
[21:10] <Alanna> “Or seasickness. Being on a ship is the only thing I fear. Bad things always happen on boats.”
[21:10] <Hyacinth> [Which reminds me: If it's available, Hy will be buying ginger. She's already done the seasickness thing once...]
[21:11] <DM> Ginger can be bought for 50s a dose.
[21:11] * Hyacinth will buy four doses per day of travel, and two more days’ worth as insurance.
[21:12] * Faust gives a very sincere look to Alanna with barely a twinkle in his eye
[21:12] <Faust> “My Lady Alanna, if need be I will protect you with my life, and you shall have my bunny as a life preserver to make it back to Cormyr.”
[21:12] <Alanna> “You see, every time we get on a ship something happens. Undead from the sea, kraken, giant sea things, river trolls…I’ve gone through so many pairs of boots due to water damage!”
[21:12] <DM> The journey is expected to take ten days.
[21:12] * Hyacinth is Filthy Rich, so ring it up. 
[21:12] <Alanna> “Magnifico, you’ll have to keep me distracted!”
[21:12] * Alanna grins at the fool.
[21:13] <Magnifico> “My lady, I shall.”
[21:16] * Obsidian is deep sea fishing, if she can.
[21:18] * Hyacinth hands out neatly wrapped packages to everyone. “Ginger. It will allay sea sickness.”
[21:19] * Phantom packs her package of ginger into her backpack
[21:19] <Faust> Thank you, ma’am, but the ginger would be put to better use by someone else.
[21:19] * Faust gives the ginger back
[21:19] * Hyacinth shrugs. “There’s plenty to go ’round.”
[21:20] * Hyacinth takes the ginger and gives it to the ship cook to dole out as needed.
[21:20] <Faust> “You never know when we have reason to frequent a vessel again; please save it for another time.”
[21:20] <Faust> (Faust is in no need…he is strong and manly. Give it to Magnifico.)
[21:20] <DM> (lol.. so the meals for the journey were gingered turnips, gingered carrots, gingered parsnips, gingersnaps, and ginger water)
[21:21] <Phantom> (Yum!)
[21:21] <Hyacinth> [Hy handed everyone a full supply of ginger, so Mags already has plenty.]

[21:21] <Obsidian> (Hey, if it keeps away the sea wobblies…)
[21:21] * Obsidian grins.
[21:21] <Magnifico> “Madam, if I am to feed the fishes, they shall find me well-seasoned.”

[21:21] * Phantom is just glad to be done with the sea voyage.
[21:21] <DM> You arrive in Suzail on a chilly, foggy, drizzling afternoon.
[21:23] <Faust> “Shall we clean ourselves before meeting royalty?”
[21:23] <Hyacinth> “Clean and dress ourselves.”
[21:24] <DM> A large, purple lacquered carriage, emblazoned with a dragon on the doors, awaits your arrival.
[21:24] <Faust> “My suite at the castle awaits me.”
[21:24] * Hyacinth twists her mouth. “Not even an afternoon to shop.”
[21:24] <DM> A team of four impressive horses is hitched to the front, and a pair of drivers in purple livery (also emblazoned with the dragon) sit atop, holding the reins.
[21:24] * Faust walks to the carriage and talks to the driver.
[21:24] * Hyacinth looks at Magnifico. “We should have heeded my advice and replaced your motley before we left.” She shrugs. “As it is, we must go as we are.”
[21:25] <DM> The driver nods at Faust.
[21:25] <Magnifico> “Madam, it cannot be expected that we are to arrive at court straight off the boat.”
[21:25] <Faust> “Madam Hyacinth, pleased is this driver to await your return from your shopping excursion.”
[21:26] * Magnifico nods.
[21:26] * Magnifico bows to Alanna.
[21:26] <Magnifico> “My lady, shall we see what raiment can be had befitting your beauty?”
[21:27] * Hyacinth beams. “Excellent.” She asks after a tailor.
[21:27] <Hyacinth> “We’re not just shopping for me.”
[21:27] * Faust rolls his eyes after the jester.
[21:27] <Obsidian> “I suspect we may all need to spiffy up.”
[21:27] * Magnifico nods to Obsidian.
[21:28] * Hyacinth nods to Obsidian.
[21:28] * Obsidian grins and curtsies
[21:28] <Hyacinth> “Exactly that.”
[21:28] <Magnifico> “A salon, of course, is needed.”
[21:28] * Phantom puts on her best gown—simple, but elegant.
[21:28] * Hyacinth invites the others shopping.
[21:29] <Faust> “Certainly. Even the Jester could find something more suitable.”
[21:29] <Hyacinth> “And I intend to find it.”
[21:29] <Magnifico> “If the good doctor will oblige, there is but one place to go.”
[21:29] * Obsidian follows, allowing for suggestions on attire. (Anything small enough?)
[21:29] <Hyacinth> “I imagine such can be found.”
[21:29] <Faust> “If the ladies permit me to do so, I am going to retire to my rooms, and will meet you after shopping.”
[21:30] * Faust, upon saying “ladies,” glances around at everyone…including Magnifico.
[21:30] <Hyacinth> “Very well, gentle Faust. We will not be long.”
[21:30] * Faust bows and leads his horse away.
[21:29] * Magnifico addresses Hyacinth.
[21:30] <Magnifico> “Madam, know of you of Mistress Nulin, the modiste?”
[21:31] <DM> You arrive at Madame Nulin’s, along the rather ritzy Waterside Boulevard. Bolts of silk, cotton cloth and velvet line the walls in almost every imaginable color.
[21:32] <Alanna> “Shopping? Why would I need to go shopping?”
[21:32] <Magnifico> “My lady, clothing sends a message. ‘Tis best it be one of your choosing.”
[21:33] <Hyacinth> “You will appear at the court of Cormyr suitably dressed.” They might not even let you in as you are.”
[21:33] * Alanna stops and stares at Hyacinth.
[21:33] * Hyacinth spreads her hands.
[21:33] <Alanna> “Define suitably dressed. No blood stains?”
[21:33] * Magnifico appraises Alanna.
[21:33] * Hyacinth grins. “Finely dressed. No stains of any kind.”
[21:34] * Obsidian chuckles
[21:34] <Hyacinth> Trust me, Alanna. It will be better this way.
[21:34] * Alanna looks down at her mismatched and oft-mended clothing.
[21:34] <Magnifico> “For you, my lady, some rich robe would do. As a fearsome warrior woman, you may then accessorize with your own native furs.”
[21:34] <Hyacinth> “You may revert to your own clothing at the earliest convenience. Come. It will be fun!”
[21:34] *** MadameNulin has joined #greyhawk
[21:35] <MadameNulin> “Hello my ladies. How may I serve you today? And–Magnifico! Why, it has been a dragon’s age!”
[21:35] * Magnifico bows.
[21:35] <Magnifico> “Madame Nulin!”
[21:35] <Hyacinth> “Good afternoon. We have been asked to court, and we would appear our best for the occasion.”
[21:35] * Hyacinth curtsies.
[21:36] <MadameNulin> “Please, tell me what brings such illustriousness as the great court jester to my door?”
[21:36] <Magnifico> “May I present my mistress, the Lady Alanna? I have advised her that only Madame Nulin will do on this occasion.”
[21:37] * Magnifico waves a hand at Alanna deferentially.
[21:36] <MadameNulin> “Ah, for friends of the great Magnifico, I shall bring out my best seamstresses!”
[21:37] * MadameNulin beams from ear to ear at the fine compliment.
[21:37] * Hyacinth looks at the silk. “I can see why Magnifico said that this was the only place to go.”
[21:37] * Magnifico sidles up to Hyacinth, and speaks quietly to her.
[21:38] * Alanna looks a bit nervous at all the seemingly delicate things in the shop.
[21:38] <Magnifico> “Something fine for my lady, madam? Not too fancy or restrictive?”
[21:38] * Hyacinth smiles at Magnifico. “Exactly that.”
[21:38] <Alanna> “Magnifico, I’m not one of those pretty women who get all fancied up.”
[21:38] <MadameNulin> “Why, in this whole land you will find nothing to rival my humble shop. In fact, I dare you to find anything better, anywhere!”
[21:39] * MadameNulin is approached by a slight boy, and given a note.
[21:39] * Magnifico winks at Madame Nulin.
[21:39] <Magnifico> “The lady Hyacinth has some ideas that you must hear.”
[21:39] * Hyacinth nods to Magnifico and walks over to Alanna. “For you…something that drapes nicely, to show off your warrior’s stature.”
[21:40] * MadameNulin reads the note, and her face lights up.
[21:40] * Alanna stands uncomfortably, more afraid of a dressmaker than a horde of orcs.
[21:41] * Hyacinth takes her hand comfortingly.
[21:41] <Alanna> “Wait a minute–are you saying I won’t be able to take my sword in there?”
[21:41] <Hyacinth> “Unless you intend to have a dress made for it?”
[21:41] * Hyacinth smiles at the thought of a horde of orcish dressmakers.
[21:40] <MadameNulin> “Well, first off, I have wonderful news for you all! It seems that our esteemed Royal Apothacary has sent word to shoe each of his lovely companions! He says that I must turn out only the best, and to please send the bill to him.”
[21:42] * Phantom looks down at her dress
[21:42] * Magnifico raises an eyebrow at that news.
[21:42] <Hyacinth> “How gracious of him!”
[21:42] * Hyacinth beams.
[21:41] * Magnifico looks Obsidian and Phantom over.
[21:41] * Phantom looks back questioningly at Magnifico.
[21:42] <Magnifico> “Ladies fair, will you not see what wonders Madame Nulin can offer?”
[21:42] * Phantom nods.
[21:42] * Obsidian grins at Magnifico.
[21:42] <MadameNulin> “For you, my little gnome, I have the perfect dress!”
[21:43] * Obsidian smiles at the lady
[21:43] <Alanna> “Fine. If I have to, I’ll wear a dress and leave my sword behind, but if we all die because I needed my sword, it’s not my fault.”
[21:43] * Alanna smiles, nervously.
[21:43] <Hyacinth> “Of course not.”
[21:43] * Hyacinth smiles winningly.
[21:43] * MadameNulin snaps her fingers, and a girl walks out with a very gorgeous shade of green material. When she is beside Obsidian, she opens it to unfurl a dress. There are pockets hidden in every seam, and it is Gaucho style for ease of movement.
[21:44] * MadameNulin claps her hands twice in quick succession.
[21:44] * Phantom catches Obsidian’s eye, and smiles.
[21:44] <Obsidian> “Oh, my!”
[21:45] <Hyacinth> “What a lovely shade of green!”
[21:44] * Obsidian does a happy dance.
[21:44] <Alanna> “Wow, she really knows gnomes.”
[21:45] * Alanna smiles at Obsidian.
[21:45] * Magnifico speaks shyly to Alanna.
[21:45] * Alanna listens to Magnifico, as she usually does.
[21:45] <Magnifico> “My lady, I thought of motley for myself…but something, perhaps of a color to match your own?”
[21:45] * Obsidian is…speechless.
[21:46] <Magnifico> “I would have it known whom I serve.”
[21:46] <Alanna> “Um, sure. No pink. Please, not pink.”
[21:46] <Hyacinth> “The red of your hair offers so many possibilities–none of which is pink.”
[21:46] <Alanna> “Good.”
[21:46] <Hyacinth> “Pink is for blondes.”
[21:46] * Hyacinth grins.
[21:46] <Alanna> “And elves.”
[21:46] <Hyacinth> “And blonde elves.”
[21:47] <Hyacinth> “Maybe some green trim to bring out the eyes…and a red and green motley! Perfect!”
[21:47] <Hyacinth> “For Magnifico, of course.”
[21:47] * Magnifico’s eyes light up at the thought.
[21:46] * MadameNulin turns to a girl holding a powder blue velvet gown, complete with a whole side that is padded to hold a sword–as if to have a built-in scabbard easily accessible from over one shoulder.
[21:47] <Alanna> A built-in scabbard?”
[21:48] <MadameNulin> “Why, of course!”
[21:48] * Hyacinth oohs at the color. “Oh, that will be dramatic against her natural color.”
[21:48] <Alanna> “Now, that sounds like a good idea. It is nice and soft.”
[21:48] <MadameNulin> “It is all the rage right now…and we have sword hilt adornments!”
[21:48] <Alanna> “Magnifico, what do you think?”
[21:49] * Hyacinth for her part is convinced.
[21:49] <Magnifico> “You shall be the very portrait of the wild horse warrior, my lady, but one with a touch of elegance.”
[21:49] <MadameNulin> “And for the lady Hyacinth…for one so fair, I do not want to detract from your beauty.”
[21:49] * Hyacinth smiles.
[21:50] * MadameNulin walks to the back herself.
[21:50] <Alanna> “Thanks Magnifico. I think you’re going to look very nice, too.”
[21:51] <Magnifico> “I think that I shall never look finer.”
[21:51] * Hyacinth bounces on the balls of her feet.
[21:51] <MadameNulin> “I have always found pink to be so silly, but this particular color will almost do you justice, my lady.”
[21:51] <Hyacinth> [See! I said pink was for blonde elves! :)]
[21:51] * MadameNulin brings out a dress that swirls with color.
[21:52] <MadameNulin> “There are shades of pink, blue, and even a silver and lavender.”
[21:52] <Hyacinth> “My! I have never seen the like.”
[21:53] <MadameNulin> “It is gossamer on the first level, and a satin silver on the second, so that it shines and seems to change color before your eyes. It is cut low in front, and even lower in back to show off the gorgeous shoulders of the wearer.”
[21:53] * Phantom smiles at Hyacinth’s obvious delight.
[21:53] * Hyacinth clasps her hands. “Why, I shall feel like a queen myself!”
[21:54] <MadameNulin> “There is a matching belt of interlaced silver, with lions’ heads roaring at each other for a clasp. The belt looks light and fine, but is strong enough to hold at least three heavy weapons.”
[21:54] <Hyacinth> “Oh, my!”
[21:55] <Hyacinth> “That is three more than I shall require, but I appreciate its quality.”
[21:55] <MadameNulin> “And for Phantom, I have just the thing!”
[21:55] * Phantom looks up quickly at Madame Nulin, wondering what she has in mind.
[21:57] <Magnifico> “Something with a touch of mystery, I think, befitting a sorceress?”
[21:56] * Hyacinth smiles at Alanna. “See? This is not so bad. You shall look marvelous in that dress! And it will not impede you in the slightest.”
[21:57] * Phantom watches, interested.
[21:57] * MadameNulin snaps her fingers, and one last outfit appears. This one is all black, with deep lotus purple threads entwined, making knots and patterns. The robes are cut to hug the torso, accentuating curves. The front of the robe is cut back to reveal a deep purple organza over silk. It is so soft that only butterfly wings compare.
[21:58] <Phantom> “Beautiful!”
[21:58] <Hyacinth> “Lovely”!
[21:58] * Phantom reaches out to touch the material. She smiles, dazzled.
[21:59] * Magnifico smiles.
[21:59] <Magnifico> “This becomes you, madam.”
[22:00] * Phantom nods.
[22:00] <MadameNulin> “And of course, Apothocary Faust will be providing you all with matching slippers, at no small cost to him!”
[22:00] <Hyacinth> “He is most generous.”
[22:01] <Phantom> “Most generous!”
[22:01] <MadameNulin> “Ah, a more generous man one will never find! How lucky will be the lady that lands such a man. I will put five seamstresses to every dress, and should have them done the day after next. I am told it needs to be a rush job?”
[22:02] <Magnifico> “Time presses, unfortunately, madam.”
[22:04] * MadameNulin stage-whispers “For a small fee, I know of a wizard that can whip up the order in less than a day…?”
[22:02] * Hyacinth is preoccupied with holding her dress up and turning it this way and that.
[22:02] <MadameNulin> “And for you, Magnifico? What may I outfit you in? Please tell me this visit means your return to our court!”
[22:03] * Magnifico is taken aback momentarily.
[22:03] <Magnifico> “I serve the lady Alanna, madam.”
[22:04] * Alanna looks a little surprised.
[22:04] <Magnifico> “I am but a visitor.”
[22:04] <MadameNulin> “Ah, so this will not mean your return.”
[22:05] * MadameNulin makes a small pout with her reddened lips.
[22:05] * Hyacinth studies Magnifico from the corner of her eye.
[22:05] * Magnifico grins.
[22:05] <Magnifico> “Yet shall I hope to turn many a stomach while we tarry!”
[22:06] <MadameNulin> “You are going to give us dysentery, while we wait?”
[22:06] <Phantom> (lol)
[22:06] * Magnifico cackles.
[22:06] <Magnifico> “Even so, madam, though disinclined to tarry!”
[22:07] * Hyacinth feigns alarm.
[22:08] *** Roamy has joined #greyhawk
[22:08] <DM> (hiya melissa!)
[22:08] <Hyacinth> “So, as yet we require dress for Magnifico, something, I aver, that only a fool would wear to court.”
[22:09] * MadameNulin brings out two more dresses, one of soft kidskin cut strikingly and bordered in forest green for Roamy, and one for Kys with many jewel tones, every panel of the dress embroidered with musical notes that swirl up to a sash that covers the chest exposing the mid-drift and then flowing down one arm to a a cut away sleeve that grazes the floor, leaving the other shoulder bare. There is a matching musical sign filigreed into a gold band to be worn on the exposed upper arm.

[22:15] <Hyacinth> “That is remarkably quick for such quality. I am duly impressed, Madame.”
[22:15] * MadameNulin motions to the two shop girls that have been taking everyone’s measurements, and then she retires.
[22:15] <DM> The current time is late afternoon.
[22:15] <Hyacinth> “Shall we?”
[22:15] * Kys nods.
[22:15] * Hyacinth looks tickled pink, as it were.
[22:16] <DM> Where to?
[22:16] <Alanna> “Can I find a place to go for a ride? Starchaser is probably getting a bit restive, having been cooped up!”
[22:17] <Hyacinth> “Let us see where we are being quartered. Given the powers that have summoned us, I imagine that there is a park not far from where we will be.”
[22:17] * Hyacinth looks to Magnifico for confirmation.
[22:18] <Magnifico> “My lady, you may take to the streets, if you would ride. I have a small request.”
[22:18] * Alanna looks over at Mags.
[22:18] * Magnifico shuffles his feet, and looks bashful.
[22:19] <Magnifico> “There is another shop I would show you, when you are ready to depart.”
[22:19] * Hyacinth cocks an eyebrow.
[22:19] <Alanna> “Oh, lets see that now, then. I can wait a bit more to ride.”
[22:19] <Roamy> “Magnifico, have we yet refused you?”
[22:19] *** MadameNulin has quit IRC
[22:20] * Roamy looks sweetly at Magnifico.
[22:20] * Magnifico smiles, embarrassed.
[22:20] <Magnifico> “There is a toymaker in the town, or was…”
[22:20] * Hyacinth laughs brightly. “We must go!”
[22:20] <Magnifico> “…and I have in mind a trifle that would serve me well.”
[22:21] * Roamy grins and raises a quizzical eyebrow.
[22:21] <Alanna> “Well then, toy store it is. I can pick up something for Alwyn too.”
[22:21] * Magnifico beams.
[22:21] <Hyacinth> “Lead on!”
[22:21] * Obsidian smiles.
[22:22] <Obsidian> “Toys, huh? Goodie, goodie, goodie!”
[22:22] * Alanna laughs at Obsidian’s delight.

[22:22] <DM> You arrive at Fharfygyn’s Toys and Baubles, run by a long-bearded old gnome.

[22:22] <Phantom> (Oh, my…)
[22:23] * Obsidian twitters gleefully and introduces everyone formally.
[22:23] * Magnifico eyes the merchandise.
[22:23] <Alanna> (I take it Obsidian knows this guy?)

[22:26] * Roamy greets him warmly with a smile.
[22:26] * Alanna smiles, looking around at the toys.
[22:26] * Magnifico favors the toymaker with a short bow.
[22:26] * Kys beams her hello and bows/curtsies grandly
[22:26] <Fharfygyn> “My lady, everything is special here at Fharfygyn’s!”
[22:27] <Obsidian> “I’m starting to realize that…”
[22:27] * Obsidian gawks with glee.
[22:28] * Alanna looks for a doll that will be a nice present for Alwyn.
[22:29] <Fharfygyn> “I just got these.” *takes out a small, carefully wrapped tissue bag about the size of a shot glass*
[22:30] * Fharfygyn throws one at the ground near Hyacinth’s feet. It makes a spark and a loud ‘bang’ as the bag breaks.
[22:31] * Hyacinth jumps up, letting out a small cry.
[22:31] * Fharfygyn claps his hands, and jumps with glee at Hyacinth’s reaction.
[22:30] <Fharfygyn> “Bamsmacks!”
[22:30] <Obsidian> “Hey, now…those could be fun!”
[22:30] <Hyacinth> [Fahrvergnügen!]
[22:30] * Kys claps and squeals with glee.

[22:30] * Magnifico is delighted.
[22:31] <Fharfygyn> “Sooo…what can I get for you folks?”
[22:31] <Obsidian> “Ummm…one of those, please?”
[22:31] <Hyacinth> “Why, you shocked me! I’ll take six of them.”
[22:31] * Magnifico defers to the ladies.
[22:32] <Fharfygyn> “Magnificent!” *hurries behind the counter out of sight, and returns with a leather bag containing six bamsmacks*
[22:31] <Alanna> “Magnifico, what did you need?”
[22:31] * Magnifico looks about for any dolls like the one he has in mind.
[22:32] * Alanna looks for a pretty doll for Alwyn, and maybe a toy horse.
[22:32] <Fharfygyn> “That will be one gold!”
[22:32] * Hyacinth slips a golden coin into his hand. “Gladly.”
[22:33] <Obsidian> “Me, too?”
[22:33] * Obsidian grins.
[22:32] <DM> There are porcelain and cloth dolls of all races.
[22:33] * Hyacinth starts looking around for other toys that might be useful in other ways.
[22:33] <DM> There are also several wooden dolls, including ventriloquism dummies.
[22:33] * Magnifico eyeballs one of the doll-dummies.
[22:34] * Alanna chooses a golden-haired doll for Alwyn, and a horse.
[22:33] <Obsidian> “Any windup-and-walk toys?”
[22:34] <Fharfygyn> “Oh, yes. I’ve got a wind-up dwarf! *hurries behind the counter and comes back with another leather pouch of bamsmacks, and a small metal dwarf with a windscrew in the back*
[22:34] <Alanna> “Magnifico, have you made your choice yet?”
[22:34] <Magnifico> I must needs consult the master of the shop, my lady.
[22:34] <Obsidian> “Oooh.”
[22:35] <Fharfygyn> “See? Looks just like a real dwarf, ‘cept for the orneriness!”
[22:35] <Magnifico> [lol]
[22:35] <Hyacinth> “And the smell.”
[22:35] * Fharfygyn laughs heartily at Hyacinth’s remark. He winds up the toy, and puts it on the floor. It begins to walk slowly, taking mechanical steps towards Obsidian*
[22:35] <Magnifico> “But the likeness is not perfect, sir.”
[22:36] <Fharfygyn> “It’s not?”
[22:36] * Fharfygyn looks at Magnifico.
[22:36] <Magnifico> “He appears completely sober.”
[22:36] * Fharfygyn rolls on the floor, laughing and pointing at Magnifico.
[22:36] * Magnifico grins impishly.
[22:36] <Fharfygyn> “Hee-hee-hee! Oh, good one, master!”
[22:37] <Hyacinth> “But give it a mug of ale that could be used to mortar brick, and it would be a telling likeness.”
[22:36] <Obsidian> “It’s wonderful. How much, sir?”
[22:37] <Fharfygyn> “Three gold, m’lady.”
[22:37] * Obsidian pays up.
[22:37] * Fharfygyn grins at Obsidian, and hands over the bamsmacks and dwarf.
[22:38] * Fharfygyn turns to Magnifico. “What did you need to consult with me about?” I charge mightily for consultations, you know!” *laughs heartily*
[22:39] <Magnifico> “Sir, I require a zany…a scepter surmounted by a head with a moveable jaw. I see many complete models upon your shelf.”
[22:39] * Fharfygyn laughs again, then looks pensive. “I see. I see.” *rubs chin*
[22:39] * Hyacinth looks curiously at Magnifico, then at the shelves.
[22:40] <Magnifico> “Madame Nulin herself has agreed to garb him appropriately.”
[22:40] <Fharfygyn> “That shan’t be too hard. I shall do it for two gold. Choose the head that suits you from the dummies over there!”
[22:41] <Magnifico> “One dummy shall search the rest, sir!”
[22:41] * Magnifico heads to the shelf, delighted.
[22:41] <Fharfygyn> “For two gold, off with his head!”
[22:41] * Roamy chuckles at Magnifico and Fharfygyn.
[22:41] * Fharfygyn laughs at himself.
[22:41] * Hyacinth cackles.
[22:42] <DM> As Magnifico approaches, the dummies all turn their eyes and stare at him.
[22:42] * Kys is looking around at everything, seeming to absorb and ogle all of it.
[22:42] * Magnifico pauses, surprised.
[22:42] <DM> They all begin shouting: “Don’t choose me!”
[22:42] * Magnifico is helpless with laughter.
[22:43] * Fharfygyn laughs heartily.
[22:43] * Magnifico composes himself, and adopts a soldier’s marching stride and a deep, martial voice.
[22:44] <Magnifico> “Men, I need one volunteer for a…dangerous mission.”
[22:44] * Phantom looks sharply at the old gnome.
[22:44] * Fharfygyn gives a sheepish grin to phantom.
[22:45] * Phantom winks back.
[22:44] * Alanna laughs at Magnifico and the dummies.
[22:44] * Magnifico snaps to attention, and puffs out his unimpressive chest.
[22:45] * Hyacinth laughs, clearly surprised.
[22:45] <Magnifico> “It is quite possible that this man will never come back.”
[22:45] <Obsidian> “Careful, my dear sir… magick can be fun, as long as it isn’t misleading.”
[22:45] * Obsidian smiles at the old man.
[22:45] <Hyacinth> “And especially when it is misleading.”
[22:45] <Fharfygyn> “Tee-hee! Misleading magicks are the most fun, m’lady.”
[22:45] * Hyacinth grins a conspiratorial grin at Fharfygyn.
[22:46] <DM> The dummies say “Just because we’re dummies doesn’t make us stupid!”
[22:46] * Obsidian chuckles.
[22:46] <Magnifico> “Now, all of you who do not wish to volunteer, take one step backward.”
[22:46] * Magnifico waits.
[22:46] <DM> The dummies all look at each other, their jaws agape.”
[22:46] * Alanna waits.
[22:46] * Magnifico allows his voice to crack with emotion.
[22:46] <Magnifico> “Men, I’m proud of ya. All of ya!”
[22:47] * Fharfygyn laughs heartily.
[22:47] * Hyacinth giggles.
[22:47] <Magnifico> “Some will say that you’ve got wooden heads. Me, I say be proud of your wooden heads!”
[22:48] <DM> The dummies all puff out their chests.
[22:48] * Hyacinth laughs delightedly.
[22:49] * Fharfygyn sneezes, and the dummies all flop down, inanimate again.
[22:49] * Fharfygyn says under his breath “Blast it!”
[22:49] * Phantom grins.
[22:49] * Magnifico picks a clownish-looking dummy, now marked for death.
[22:50] <Fharfygyn> “That one is twelve gold, master. Fifteen for just the head.”
[22:50] * Magnifico looks surprised, and turns to Alanna.
[22:50] <Fharfygyn> “I can’t bear to behead it meself.”
[22:51] <Hyacinth> “We can arrange a mock trial for it. Shall I accuse it of treason? Perhaps there is a toy headsman who may execute judgment?”
[22:52] <Fharfygyn> “Aye, m’lady. He is a member of a splinter group against the Crown, methinks.”
[22:52] * Magnifico is aghast, then laughs out loud.
[22:52] * Obsidian falls to the floor, laughing.
[22:52] <Hyacinth> “Aha! Base treachery!”
[22:52] * Alanna pays the man for her own stuff and Magnifico’s, and gently rips the head off the dummy.
[22:52] * Alanna hands the head to Magnifico.
[22:53] * Fharfygyn looks appalled.
[22:53] <Hyacinth> “A coarse, but clean, execution.”
[22:53] <Alanna> “No blood. Easier than taking the head of a person or a lake monster.”
[22:53] * Hyacinth nods.
[22:53] <Alanna> “I doubt he suffered all that much.”
[22:53] <Magnifico> “And no sad, dull confession to sit through.”
[22:54] * Fharfygyn looks at Magnifico, and nods over to Alanna “She has a good head.”
[22:54] <Magnifico> “Of the finest construction, sir.”
[22:54] <Alanna> “Hard, too.”
[22:55] * Fharfygyn nods. “The dummy’s is made of soft balsa, though.”
[22:55] <Hyacinth> “A lightheaded dummy, then? Perhaps he had sampled the toy dwarf’s ale overmuch?”
[22:55] <Fharfygyn> “Aye. Truly meant for the court jester!”
[22:56] * Magnifico looks embarrassed again.
[22:55] <Magnifico> “To serve, sir, the head should sit atop a scepter, from which the jaw may be triggered.”
[22:56] * Fharfygyn listens to Magnifico. “Aye. It will be done as you wish, master. I shall have it for you on the morrow, before the day is through.”
[22:56] <Magnifico> “Excellent, sir!”
[22:58] <Fharfygyn> “A deal is struck, then!” *claps his hands*
[22:59] * Hyacinth looks interestedly around the store.
[23:00] <Fharfygyn> “See you on the morrow, then? It is almost supper time…and I have spoodle on the stove.”
[23:00] <Magnifico> “We shall leave you to your magic, sir, with our thanks.”
[23:00] <Obsidian> “Spoodle….?” *sighs*
[23:00] <Alanna> “Thanks!”
[23:00] <Obsidian> “If you bring a second helping on the morrow, you’ll be well rewarded.”
[23:00] <Alanna> “Now, for our ride in the park.”
[23:00] * Obsidian winks.
[23:00] * Phantom bows and thanks him.
[23:01] * Kys beams at the man, thanks him and departs.
[23:01] * Fharfygyn grins at Obsidian. “Consider it done, m’lady!”
[23:01] * Obsidian follows out with an ear-to-ear grin.
[23:01] * Hyacinth curtsies. “Your store is a delight, sir.”
[23:02] <Fharfygyn> “Thank you, mistress. Thank you, indeed”! (to Hy)
[23:02] * Roamy thanks him with a smile, and steps out of his shop.
[23:02] * Magnifico tries not to think about clowns’ heads leaving their shoulders.
[23:02] * Alanna smiles, happy at the prospect of being able to get out and ride.
[23:02] * Hyacinth leaves the store with a spring in her step. “Have you any other delights to reveal to us before we return to the carriage, Magnifico?”
[23:04] <Magnifico> “There are many in Suzail, madam. There is dining to be had.”
[23:04] * Magnifico spins around, staring.
[23:04] <Hyacinth> “I suspect that the carriage will take us to our apartments, and we may discover food from there.”
[23:04] * Magnifico shakes his head, and continues walking with the ladies.
[23:04] <Hyacinth> “I have an appetite for a fine meal after so much time on the march.”
[23:04] <Alanna> “I’m going for a ride.”
[23:04] <DM> Fharfygyn comes out of his shop, and motions for Hyacinth to come over.
[23:05] <Alanna> “Poor Starchaser has been cooped up too long. He’ll be taking a chunk out of some unfortunate stable boy if I don’t get some of his energy used up.”
[23:06] <Magnifico> “We shall see to your steed, my lady, and you shall ride.”
[23:06] * Hyacinth rejoins the others after talking briefly with the gnome.
[23:06] * Fharfygyn returns to his shop.
[23:04] *** Fharfygyn has quit IRC
[23:06] <Hyacinth> [So, back to the carriage.]
[23:07] * Fharfygyn beams a smile at Obsidian as he enters.
[23:07] * Obsidian grins
[23:07] * Alanna climbs in, wondering why people like to ride around in boxes so much.
[23:08] <Magnifico> ["Who's your friend?"]
[23:08] <DM> The driver asks where he should take you.
[23:08] * Hyacinth climbs in and seats herself elegantly, frowning at the driver’s question.
[23:08] * Magnifico looks to Hyacinth.
[23:08] <DM> The driver asks if you are all ready to go to the castle now.
[23:09] <Alanna> “I think we are.”
[23:09] <Hyacinth> “Yes.”
[23:09] * Magnifico winces, looking at the sorry state of his current clothing.
[23:09] <Magnifico> “Via a back door, perhaps.”
[23:09] <DM> The driver says he can drop you off at the kitchens, if you like.
[23:09] <Roamy> “We can stay at an inn until our clothes are ready, Magnifico.”
[23:09] * Hyacinth smiles reassuringly at Magnifico. “We only just arrived from a long voyage. I don’t expect we will have the full pomp and circumstance right away.”
[23:10] * Magnifico nods.
[23:10] <Hyacinth> “Actually, are there apartments near the castle?”
[23:10] <Alanna> “And if we go in through the kitchen, maybe someone has yummy cakes or something.”
[23:10] <Hyacinth> “We may wish to freshen up and wait for our clothes to be tailored before we appear at the castle.”
[23:10] <DM> The driver says there are apartments near the castle, in the foreign quarter where dignitaries stay.
[23:10] <Faust> (I know that Faust would secret you into his suites.)
[23:10] <Alanna> “I need to go wherever Starchaser is.”
[23:11] <Hyacinth> [Speak up, because Hy is inclining herself to the apartments.]
[23:11] <DM> Starchaser has been taken to the royal stables.
[23:11] <Magnifico> “To the kitchens, then, or down some chimney?”
[23:11] * Hyacinth frowns. “I had not hoped that this would be so elaborate. Do we have a place to rest and lay low within the castle?
[23:12] <Alanna> “Kitchens, and then to the stables.”
[23:12] <Magnifico> “If Master Hethil still reigns there, we might pass in relative peace through the kitchens.”
[23:12] * Hyacinth purses her lips at the thought of entering through the kitchens. “To the castle, but stop at the apartments in the foreign quarter if it is not out of the way. I mean to have some decent lodging and a lovely meal.”
[23:13] * Alanna sits, quietly biding her time until her ride.
[23:13] <DM> The driver takes you to the castle, an imposing site on the eastern end of the city surrounded by high stone walls protecting a large park and the castle proper. The castle sits on a hill, overlooking the city, the purple flag of Cormyr flying from every turret and tower.
[23:14] * Hyacinth picks at her clothing, looking unhappy.
[23:14] <DM> Once you enter the heavily guarded gates, you are greeted by a scene of lush gardens, beautiful trees and a flowing river at the base of the castle hill. Servants’ houses and workshops dot the road leading to the castle proper.
[23:15] * Hyacinth perks up, although she still seems nervous.
[23:15] * Roamy smiles broadly at the natural beauty
[23:16] <Hyacinth> [Has the foreign quarter gone by? Hy would ask to be dropped off if so.]
[23:16] <DM> The driver takes you into the walls of the castle, and around the rear to a door that leads into the castle. From the strong aromas of meats roasting and bread baking, you determine you have arrived at the kitchens.
[23:16] * Magnifico stares wistfully out of the carriage.
[23:16] <DM> The foreign quarter has gone by already.
[23:16] * Hyacinth looks distinctly unhappy, and she hides herself in her cloak.
[23:17] <Hyacinth> [She'd asked for him to stop there so she could get out.]
[23:17] <Hyacinth> [Oh well. :)]
[23:17] <DM> The driver offers his apologies, and says he would return to the foreign quarter if you wish.”
[23:17] <Magnifico> “Be consoled, madam. Few chickens have ever arrived here in such pomp.”
[23:18] <Hyacinth>”I will not be smuggled into the castle like a sack of contraband.”
[23:18] <Faust> (are you likening Hy to poultry now?)
[23:18] <Magnifico> “Say, rather, that you are hidden, as would be a birthday present–a surprise, and not a secret shame.”
[23:19] * Phantom chuckles at Hyacinth, hoping that it is just pride not some worry that has her up in arms.
[23:19] <Magnifico> [Nothing "just" about Hy's pride]
[23:19] <Phantom> (hehe)
[23:19] <DM> (lol)
[23:19] <Hyacinth> [So true. :)]
[23:19] * Hyacinth draws herself up and addresses the driver. “To the Foreign Quarter, please.”
[23:19] <DM> “As you wish, m’lady.”
[23:20] * Hyacinth gets back in the carriage. “Where will you be staying in the castle?”
[23:20] <DM> (everyone else getting out at the castle?)
[23:20] <Alanna> (‘Night, everyone. Tim needs me right now.)

[23:22] <DM> Okay, Phantom and Hyacinth will stay in the foreign quarter while the rest of you find Faust, and stay in his rooms.
