Obama On Top
Senator Barack Obama’s Democratic presidential primary lead over Sen. Hillary Clinton is widening due to his recent big win in North Carolina, along with a new increase in superdelegate endorsements. It’s far from official as yet, but his eventual nomination seems assured. I’ve arrived late to the Obama party, having first supported Rep. Dennis Kucinich and then former senator John Edwards, before each withdrew from the race.
Senator John McCain, for his part, seems to be doing his level best to elect Obama. McCain strongly resembles a huge pile of fail, assuring Republican voters that he will lead us to change, apparently by continuing Bush policies to the letter. Is there any possible way that this approach can win for the GOP in November–even given the mainstream media’s cheerleading for the Arizona senator’s allegedly “maverick” ways?
I don’t think so. Here’s to an Obama presidency, and may he find the courage to lead us democratically rather than via the corporations. Here’s to an even larger Democratic majority in Congress, and may it start representing us instead of money. Here’s to hope, no matter how faint.
