Blood & Roses II: Electric Boogaloo
Posted on | September 14, 2005
So we helped talk Pete into running another game, Pete who may be the best face-to-face game master I’ve ever known. He’s the one who ran me and Lynne through our first Dungeons & Dragons game together back in ‘95, forever influencing her writing and instilling in me a love of prophecy as a theme in campaigns.
Pete’s also writing a lot. The three of us have all entered the same contest, and are waiting for the finalists announcement next week or so. “Blood & Roses 2″ is a sequel to a campaign Pete ran a few years back, and is set in the same fantasy world similar to seventeenth-century Earth.
I’m playing a former naval officer just returned from a decade in the orient, having learned mystic and martial arts, and trying to fit once again into polite society. The first session was Saturday night, when nine of us stared in awe as Pete wove his old magic in introducing our characters. Each of us was put on the spot, and had to improvise some dialogue and actions from the backgrounds we’d more or less planned. Delicious. I’ve needed this; some things you just can’t get from gaming over IRC. Can’t wait until next month’s session!Expect a campaign web site soon.
